Our aim: To qualify teachers for inclusive schools

As a result of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (2006), all children are entitled to a joint education at a regular school. Since the new school law came into force in 2009, the schools in the Federal State of Bremen have endeavoured to provide the environment for an inclusive education. As part of the implementation of the UN Disability Rights Convention, most of the schools for children with special needs in the state of Bremen have already been dissolved. Because of this, the majority of children are already being taught in inclusive elementary and secondary schools.

Inclusive pedagogy includes intersectional perspectives in order to overcome the dichotomous focus on children “with and without disabilities”. By doing so, prospective teachers are sensitized to different levels of achievement, first languages, cultural and religious backgrounds as well as different physical, linguistic, emotional, social and mental abilities. The aim to satisfy all dimensions of diversity places high specialist and didactic demands on future teachers. a wide range of study opportunities.
